SAY WHAT!

INTERVIEW:

Reporter: How are you today, what would you like to talk about?

Employee: I'm fine, but I do have a suggestion I would like to make.

Reporter: No problem, you are aware that this will be seen on the internet?

Employee: Yeah.

Reporter: Okay then, what would you like to suggest.

Employee: It's about the lighting on the truck line at my pier.

Reporter: Is there a problem with the lights.

Employee: No and yes.

Reporter: Come on now, you gotta explain. You only have 3 minutes.

Employee: No the lights work fine, but yes, they can be brighter.

Reporter: What do you mean, you can't see?

Employee: The questions you are asking will take time to answer. Just let me make my suggestion.

Reporter: Okay, make it.

Employee: I feel that the lights on the truck line are the same as throughout the yard. I feel it should be much brighter. The lights that are currently there are too high and spaced far apart, by the time light reaches the ground it appears to be dim. That causes eye strain and uncertainty when you are placing a container on a chassis. Some kind of lighting system should be built to replace it.

Reporter: Did you make this suggestion at one of the meetings?

Employee: Yes, we have what you call tool box meetings. I guess it falls on deaf ears.

Reporter: Well your suggestion will not fall on deaf ears here. Do do have any ideas in mind?

Employee: Don't get me wrong, you can work under the lights that are there now and the lights on the machine do help somewhat, but, there are spots where it is really hard to see especially when the chassis are black and dirty. There is a lot of action on and around the truck line so it should be much brighter. Maybe an overhead trestle with stadium lights would work.

Reporter: That sounds good to me. Sorry, but your time is up, thanks for giving the suggestion on SAY WHAT!

Employee: Anytime, can I give another one real quick?

Reporter: No, not today.
