Local 1233 Members Add Joy

To A Newark Elementary School Event

They were having fun, fun! - March 30, 2007

Article By: Kenny Moore

Have you ever seen a group of parents and their children together at school having fun?  I mean just doing fun things, talking to other parents, children.  Well that is that is what I saw on Friday , March 30, 2007 at Avon Ave. School.  There were at least 100 people there.  The event took place in a very large community room.  This event was called "Parents and Students Fun Day".  Some members of Local 1233 donated money to help out.

Bro. Wooden called me that Friday morning and ask me if I would donate some money to this event.  I also asked several other 1233 members to donate funds too.  From what was collected Bro. Wooden was able to purchase several cases of water, several cases of little juices, several cases of assorted snack packs, and Bro. Tariq Wells was able to get 13 pizza pies delivered to the event.  So with all this available the people there could work on having fun!

Kids were playing chess, checkers and other table games.  The young ladies were jumping double-dutch, others were putting on a small green and playing with hula-hoops.  Needless to say there was a lot going on.

A great big thank you goes to those that gave.  They were:

  1. Bro. Mohammad

  2. Bro. James Cela

  3. Bro. Knight

  4. Bro. Terry Cunningham (Big Country)

  5. Bro. Rodriguez (Rail Forman @ Birth 4)

  6. Bro. George Johnson
